Liposuction or liposculpture

Removal of accumulation of fat in different parts of the body, such as abdomen, hips, thighs, arms or chins, to stylize and reshape the body.

What is the process like?

Dr. Urcelay will study the particular conditions of the patient, locate the areas with excess of fat and check the quality of the skin. This is not a procedure to lose weight but a technique of body remodeling. The doctor will inform the patient of the most appropriate technique for his/her case.

What is the operation like?

The length of the intervention may vary according to the areas to be treated and the amount of fat to be extracted. The doctor will inform the patient of the type of anesthesia and hospital regimen appropriate to his/her case, always seeking the greatest comfort and safety for the patient.

Through minimal incisions (2 mm), serum is intruded under local anesthesia and with the help of adrenaline to promote the liquefaction of fat and avoid the loss of blood (SUPER-WET TECHNIQUE). Dr. Urcelay uses both the conventional liposuctor and the VIBRO-liposuctor which, thanks to a vibration of the cannula, allows a better contraction of the skin, and with very fine cannulas, allows to extract the precise fat. The important issue is not how much fat is extracted but that the fat that remains in the body defines a harmonic form.

In the operating room a compression band of a thin material is placed on the patient to allow the skin to adapt perfectly without any type of subsidence.

And the postoperative?

The final results of liposuction will be seen between 2 weeks and 1 month after the intervention. The first few days, due to inflammation, it is possible to notice a slight increase in volume. The day after the intervention the patient can shower as usual.

It is not a painful process, following the medication schedule given by Dr. Urcelay the patient can lead a normal daily life 24-48 hours after the operation (some patients report a feeling of fatigue).

The stitches are removed between a week and 10 days after the intervention and the patient can stop using the compression band between 3-4 weeks after the operation, being of a thin and very elastic material it allows the patient to dress with the same clothes from the first day.

Walking is recommended from the first postoperative day but intense physical exercise is not recommended until 3-4 weeks after.

The revisions will be made personally by Dr. Urcelay a week after surgery, and a month, three, six months and a year after to assess the final result of loss of volume and retraction of the skin.
